Kayaking Field Trip Reflection!
I think that the kayaking field trip was a good experience for us because it taught us not only about the salt marsh, estuaries, and the ocean, but also about teamwork, trust, and collaboration. We saw many organisms such as dolphins, birds, fish, spartina grass, and many more. Half way through the trip, all of the sixth grade made a human sail. To do this activity we had to trust our fellow sixth grader so that everyone could stand up in the kayaks. Teamwork and collaboration was crucial if you didn’t want to fall behind. My partner and I did begin to fall behind after just a little bit and got washed up on shore a couple times but we learned lesson from these mistakes for example: don’t paddle to close to shore. Eventually we caught up with everyone else! We were exhausted and kept on taking breaks, but we powered through it and made it back!
I want to thank all Mrs. Cook, Ms. Winslow, and all of the kayaking instructors who helped make this trip happen. I hope that we can do more exciting field trips like this one! Thank you!
