Field Trip Reflection

Shem Creek
I had a wonderful time kayaking at Shem Creek. It was fun and educational. My partner, Georgia, and I worked very collaboratively to paddle and stay in the front of the crew instead of the back. Another collaborative activity was working together to make a human sailboat. That was very fun because if someone were to lose their balance then everyone else would fall. Thankfully, that didn't happen. I saw many organisms as I cruised around Shem Creek such as the brown pelican, bottlenose dolphins, and the snowy egret. This trip was very educational, as well. I learned about ecosystems, estuaries, and the history of Shem Creek. Also, the field trip required arm strength, which was a great work out. It took a lot of energy to keep powering through and paddle, which was a great experience.
A hallmark I think I demonstrated the most was compassionate. As a Ashley Hall sixth grader I was very compassionate to the organisms and my partner. I respected the organisms and witnessed them from a far. I didn't bother them. My partner, Georgia and I worked very collaboratively and I was compassionate to her, as well. For example, when Georgia wanted to take a break, I was compassionate and respected her. Georgia did the same thing for me, we worked very collaboratively and we were compassionate.
Thank you Mrs.Cook and Miss. Winslow for planning this field trip. This was my favorite field trip because it was fun, challenging, and educational. Kayaking in Shem Creek was an amazing experience. Again, thank you so much.
