Lookdown Fish
The Lookdown Fish (Selene vomer) is a silvery, flat, fish that eyes seem to look down which is why it is called the “Lookdown Fish.” They also can open their mouth enough to feed on small crabs, shrimp and worms (which is a functional adaptation.) It can also reflect light with it’s skin to help it avoid predators(which is a structural adaptation). when under stress the they make grunt noises with their bladder and teeth(which is a behavioral adaptation.)The Lookdown Fish’s habitat is the Western Atlantic ocean. It’s prey are small fish, worms, and small crabs. It’s predators are larger fish. It has bilateral symmetry,it’s also a heterotroph (animal) and exothermic (cold-blooded.)
