Sea star
Sea Star , Asteroidea. The Sea star has 5 legs that are connected to a small round body and they are reddish and pinkish. Sea stars detect light with five purple eyespots at the end of each arm. The Domain is Eukaryote and the kingdom is Animalia. Phylum is Echinodermata and the class is Asteridae. Order is Spinulosida and the family is Asteriidae. Genus is Patiria and species is Miniata. The Sea star is mostly found in shallow rocky areas and near jetties and pilings, but also in deepest waters over sandy or stony bottoms. A fun fact is that if sea stars lost a leg they can grow it up again. The Sea Star has radial symmetry. A structural adaptation is that sea star uses its spiny skin to protect itself from any object that could hurt it. A behavioral adaptation is that sea star doesn't look like it can open any shell with its tubed feet but it actually can. A functional Adaptation is that sea star can throw its stomach out to catch preys. Sea stars eat worms, sea urchins, snails, shrimp, and crabs. The sea star is heterotrophic which means they eat other meats or plants. The sea star is also ectothermic which means it is cold blooded. I hope you learned about Sea Stars!!
