Brief squid
The brief squid lives in warm shallow waters on the eastern seaboard of the United States. The scientific name is Lolliguncald brevis. The domain is Eukaryote, and the kingdom is animalia. Next, the phylum is mollasca, and the class is cephalopda. The order is teuthida, and the family is lolligunculo. Lastly, the genus is Lolliguncald, and the species is brevis. Some adaptations that the brief squid has is a behavioral adaptation is that when it’s threatened, it can shoot backward very fast. A functional adaptation is that it will emit a cloud of ink to distract a predator, and give it enough time to swim away. A structural adaptation is that it has very large eyes, to help it see through the ocean. The brief squid is usually a dark reddish-brown to yellow-brown, and there are many chromatophores on the upper surface which enable the squid to change colour. The brief squid eats anchovies. It is also exothermic, and a heterotroph. The breif squid has bilateral symmetry. An interesting fact about this organism is that it can only grow up to 5 inches! Thats all about the brief squid.
